We wish there was an app to avoid the current pat-down procedures happening at airports, but until that gets developed, we have perhaps the next best thing; an app that helps you track and avoid delays.  FlightView Elite, released for Android today, helps travelers by providing live flight boards, weather reports and the ability to call the airlines right from the app.A quote from the press release:

FlightView’s new Elite version comes loaded with several enhancements, including:

·         Flight Boards. Just as if they were standing in the airport, Android users can now view and sort through arriving and departing flights for all of the top U.S. and Canadian airports – on their mobile phone.
·         Directions to the Airport. FlightView Elite makes it easy for on-the-go Android users to quickly view airport locations on a map and obtain turn-by-turn driving directions from their current location – all within the app.
·         Weather Forecasts. Android users can now check the seven-day forecast for their destination – weather details are available for over 900 airports around the world.

It sounds like it may be a pretty handy app to have when traveling in areas that you may not be familiar with, or if you are simply a travel info junkie.

The app sells for .99 in the Android Market, not too bad of a deal if you are a person who flies a lot for business. Check it out and let us know how it works in the comments.
