8/24/10 UPDATE

PC World is reporting that Huawei is going to launch this handset at the Internationale Funkaustellung (IFA) consumer electronics show, and indeed is going to launch with Froyo.  This is certainly a mid to low range handset however, but if you are on a tight budget (and live overseas), this could be a good option for you.  If you are looking for a compact handset that runs Android, take a look when it drops.

It looks like Android lovers are getting another choice in handsets, this time from Huawei. The Huawei Ideos is an inexpensive Android smartphone running on your standard GSM/GPRS Bands with a 2.8″ Capacitive Touchscreen and a 528Mhz CPU. With this squarely in the budget phone market, it refreshing to see the device launching with Android 2.2. With many handsets launching with 1.6 and some still launching with 1.5, seeing 2.2 out of the gate is refreshing to say the least. According to our source the phone will be available in Pink, Yellow and Blue. No release date has been announce for the US or abroad but expect pricing at around 0 unsubsidized
