Merely weeks after announcing the Xperia Go, Sony brought it to the FCC, that tested the device and approved it for use on GSM and EDGE with US carriers. The 900 MHz and 2,100 MHz HSPA bands mentioned in official documents are meant for 3G all over the world, actually, so the device will debut internationally this summer.
This handset is a smaller unit with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, rumored to come in Q3 and made with durability in mind. It’s water and dust resistant and comes with a 3.5 inch touchscreen display with mineral glass protection, Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology and a 5 megapixel camera. Xperia Go also has a 1 GHz dual core processor and will even support upgrades to Android 4.0 ICS. It also has GPS, measures 9.8mm in thickness and weighs 110 grams. The device will be available with Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, microUSB, DLNA and a 1305 mAh battery, good enough for 8 hours of talk time.
Inside there’s also an ARM Mali 400 GPU, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, a microSD card slot and this Sony Xperia model is also able to record 720p HD, in case you’re wondering. Good specs inside a small shell… I wonder how much this will cost.
