Well, if you’re living in Australia, you’re one lucky guy or gal, since you’ll be among the first to get the new Nokia N9 MeeGo handset. It appears the device will be sold down under for a suggested price of AUD9, without counting taxes and subsidies. Among the companies that will sell this model there are 3 carriers: Optus, Telstra and Vodafone, plus retailers such as Allphones, Big W, Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi and more.

You will be truly lucky to get the N9, since this model will be produced in a limited edition of less than 100k units, or so say official sources. This is the first and last MeeGo phone, but rest assured that Nokia will use the design of the N9 on future WP7 units, as confirmed by recent leaks. Reasons to dig this unit are plenty, from the comfortable swiping experience in MeeGo to the fluid interface and 8MP camera at the back of the device.

There’s also NFC support, a polycarbonate shell that offers a very sturdy and good looking design and much more. Rumors were saying that countries such as Sweden will get the device as early as September, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m still not sure if we’ll see this model in the UK and US…
