At some point we found out about an unnamed Motorola smarpthone that was supposed to come this fall and help promote the Sprint service Direct Connect. This is a new service based on CDMA, in case you’re wondering. Well back to the handset, this is the Motorola Admiral model you can see below.
Admiral is a portrait QWERTY phone with Android 2.3 as the OS of choice, plus a 1.2GHz single core processor as the brain of the device. There’s also a 3.1 inch VGA display on board, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording and a 1860 mAh battery that should keep you going for days. Also, this is a rugged phone, that’s always a welcome feature nowadays.
Add to that 4GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot and GPS support and you get a pretty hot item, resilient to dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation and more. Also, you get Direct Connect from Sprint, in case you want that.
