If at first sight this model reminds you of the HTC 8S and 8X, know that it does have something in common with them: Windows Phone 8. This is the Huawei Ascend W1, a WP8 device that was already rumored and now it gets some pics and specs to back up the previous leaks.

These images were posted on Chinese social networking site Weibo by user zh__en, who also mentioned some specs for the handset. Ascend W1 packs a 4 inch WVGA display, a 1.2 GHz dual core CPU and a 400 MHz GPU, plus 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. Add to that a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a VGA front shooter and the picture is complete. A 2000 mAh battery rounds up the specs list and I have to say that the back camera here reminds me quite a bit of the HTC One X camera sensor.

It’s interesting to notice that the microUSB port at the bottom is not centered, but moved to the right a bit. The phone will come in a variety of colors, with blue being only one of them. Seems that Windows Phone 8 brought color to the world of Windows Phones, since the likes of HTC, Nokia and now Huawei are coloring their cases very much for this OS. I expect the price to be reasonable for the W1.
