After Apple and Samsung exchanged some blows in the legal side of the biz, it’s time for Google to suffer a bit, through a fine. The search engine giant was found guilty by the Texas court for infringing a Linux kernel patent. This could seriously damage the growth of Android, according to experts.
The lawsuit was filed by Bedrock Computer Technologies, which could result in Android having to get licensing fees. This patent infringement refers to Google’s server farm and the Linux kernel that’s involved. There are other companies accused of the same infringement and the list includes big names like Amazon.com, MySpace, Match.com and AOL.
Android could be the next target, with Google having to modify the Linux kernel, in order to avoid infringement.
