Barack Obama was recently complaining about the “lack of cool phones” at the White House, so Microsoft Europe jumped to his aid, promising a Windows Phone 7 unit for free. As if it weren’t enough that MS was already offering tens of thousands of phones to its employees and even to hackers…

Last we heard, Barack Obama was a BlackBerry fan, but had to give it up and go with the bulky and password-protected hardware offered by the authorities. After all, safety is more important than design, right? Well, at least Microsoft made an offer and we remember that they also offered prolific iPhone and PS3 hacker Geohot a WP7 device as well, some months ago.

Not to mention that the same Redmond giant offered the ChevronWP7 jailbreaking team free devices, in a spree that is characteristic to the debut and enthusiasm of a fresh OS.
