Looking for a cheap LTE phone? Well, ZTE just unveiled the Anthem 4G, a handset that’s coming to MetroPCS, with a dual core CPU, LTE and a price tag of 9. The device relies on a dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor and uses a 4.3 inch 800 x 480 pixel screen and it has an unexpected feature: HDMI video output.

This is actually starting to sound like a very good device, especially if you also consider the Dolby Surround sound. The first bummer about it is the use of the already antique Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with the small hope of a quick Android 4.0 update, if they can. You should know that the 9 price tag is without contract, so the product is even more amazing. There’s another catch here: the price tag is without tax and mail in rebate, so you may have to dial down the enthusiasm a notch.

MetroPCS says that the offer is available for a limited time in its stores or online and turns out the device also supports the MetroPCS 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot service for an extra monthly fee. So, who’s getting this phone? I’d install CyanogenMod 9 on it instantly after getting it.
