  • FriendCaller offers calls and instant messages to anyone on the Internet. Make high quality/low cost calls to landlines and mobile phones around the world.  Designed to run on phones at 1.6 or higher, it works in the background and can easily import your Android contacts friendcaller’s website!
  • Samsung announced that their Galaxy Tab will be using Atmel maXTouch sensors.  What is so special about that, you ask? These are the same sensors used in the Galaxy S line phones and ‘support an unlimited amount of touches’ yet keep responsive fast, accuracy high and power consumption low.  DroidGamers has more on the news.
  • Has a recent LG Ally update broken apps using cop protection?  According to one developer, yes.  Uninstalling and reinstalling the app works but the data is missing afterward.  A Verizon thread has been created where visitors have been complaining of broken applications.
  • DroidCon is coming next month!  If you will be in London on October 28 and 29  then you’ll want to attend.  Features more than 600 professionals including media, handset makers, carriers, and more.  Read more or register for the event.
  • Ian MacGregor breaks down how easy it is to add more shortcuts to your Android home screens using Launcher Dock.  The free app dock widget runs on phones at 1.6 or newer.
  • LAPTOP Magazine puts a half dozen of the best smart phones through the mobile hotspot combine.  Which comes out on top?  Spoiler alert – it runs Android.
