Not a single day passes without a rumor about the iPhone 5 popping up… and this day is no exception. Today we get to see a detailed comparison with measurements between the iPhone 5 front panel and the iPhone 4S panel. So far we know that the new iPhone will be thinner and taller than its predecessor, but there’s more to this comparison.
The new device is expected to feature a 4 inch display, 4G LTE and a fresh design. The iPhone 5′s glass lens will be 0.1mm thinner than the predecessor’s and the handset will be a few mm taller than the iPhone 4S. The 4.065 inch panel also shows that the iPhone 5 will offer a 16:9 aspect ratio, but as usual we advise you to take in the info with a grain of salt. The jump would be quite big from a 3.5 inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio to both a new diagonal and new aspect ratio.
As you can see the front FaceTime camera is centered above the earpiece, a trait we’ve seen in previous leaks as well. It turns out that the new iPhone will include a smaller and more sensitive light sensor and its Home button will also be smaller than the one on the iPhone 4S. The general form factor of the handset won’t be changed, so aside from minor modifications and switching around of elements (audio jack and front camera) the basic look should be the same, except for the longer and thinner part.
