Believe it or not, it’s still possible to ban a product many months after it was launched. Samsung and Apple were disputing in court earlier this week on the preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and now the bad luck continues for the South Koreans. Apple got a second injunction against Samsung, this time for the Galaxy Nexus.
Details of the ruling are not available in full, but Samsung is clearly facing a big problem here. The injunction doesn’t even mean that the product is violating Apple’s technologies or patents, it’s just a way to put product sales on hold pending the decision regarding its infringements… or lack of. Apple has to post a million bond in order to support the injunction, quite a bit more than the .6 million posted for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Anyway, the damage could not be that serious, considering the bulk of GNex units already sold over the past months.
However, people may want to rush in and buy the product in order to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean among the first and also catch those summer price reductions for July 4th or whatnot… How will this end? It would be nice if we knew exactly how long this ban lasts…
