Last I heard Samsung Galaxy S III was supposed to arrive featuring a dual core 1.8GHz, but now a Korean source reports that in fact we’ll be seeing a quad core processor on the next flagship Samsung device. Korean website ETNews is claiming that Samsung will use a quad core CPU for the next Galaxy S model, most likely a new Exynos unit.

This move would make sense, since HTC is rumored to be unveiling no less than two quad core handsets next year (Edge and Zeta). Rumors say that Samsung is already testing a quad core chipset part of the Exynos series and we should expect the Galaxy S III to also feature a large 720p Super AMOLED Plus screen, LTE connectivity and Android Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS. A couple of weeks ago we also found out that the next flagship might pack a 12 megapixel camera and 2GB of RAM, incredible feats for a phone even in 2012.

The same ETNews is saying that Samsung is also developing a 3D handset, both in display and camera, so a Galaxy S 3D might also be showcased at MWC 2012. This model will have Samsung 3D TV integration and it will support 3D photo/video capture. Expect a release for this phone in the second half of 2012. Of course these are all rumors, but we’ll know more about them once MWC 2012 starts on February 27th…
