Now that MWC 2012 has ended, it’s time to look back and see some of the most interesting aspects of the show. One of them would be the experience we had at the Emporia booth. There we found the Emporia Connect, a clamshell phone for the elderly and people who have health issues.

There were also some brain game technologies demoed, keeping the brains of the elderly up to speed and keeping them away from dementia and senility. As far as the Emporia Connect goes, the handset uses big buttons, two color screens and a resilient plastic case. Here’s its specs list:

Display: 2.8 inch, TFT, 240 x 320 pixels
Camera: 3 MP
Memory: microSD slot
Connectivity: GPS, 3G
Other features: preinstalled games

The phone uses a memento system for birthdays, a weather app, an emergency call system with 5 preset numbers and a special button for emergencies. This one uses the GPS and allows the localization of the person that’s feeling ill. The speakers on the Emporia Connect are compatible with hear aid, so that’s a good thing for people who don’t hear so well. If you have grandparents and want them to the technologically able, then using this phone is a good idea.
