In terms of Android hardware, one thing we haven’t seen much of is trackballs.  With most companies opting for touch-only or optical trackpads, trackballs are few and far between.  In fact, the T-Mobile myTouch series of phones are pretty much the only place to find them here in the United States.  CellPassion has come across a couple of new images which detail the upcoming Quench XT5 and all its fancy buttons and ports.  If these seemingly legit pictures prove to be true, the Android handset appears set to feature 4-way navigation via trackball.

Other details are said to include a 3.2-inch HVGA (320×480 pixels) touch screen, a 5.0-megapixel camera, 256MB RAM/512MB ROM. The Quench XT5 is expected to run Android 2.1 when it bows, presumably, later this year. Don’t look for this in the US though as I suspect Canada might be the closest we’ll come to getting the phone. As many of you already know, the Quench line of phones are for our international friends! Perhaps a variation for us Yankees might be coming in the form of a new Cliq or Cliq XT?
