IbnLive claims that Intel has decided to partner with more Indian companies in order to make some new smartphones. We already knew that the company partnered with a local company and created the Intel-based Lava XOLO X900, the phone seen below and available now in India.

The new manufacturer in the Intel boat is Karbonn Mobile, that appears to have been working with Intel in covert ops for a while now. Karbonn’s officials say that the first Intel Android smartphone will be released by the end of this year. After promising to make a big impact when Windows 8 will be released, Intel also wants to matter in the world of Android smartphones and it already has Motorola and Lenovo on its side, plus some smaller companies, such as those Indian ones.

It all started with the Atom Z2460 Medfield CPU, a viable solution for handsets. The XOLO X900 debuted in India back in April and it came with a 1.6 GHz Medfield processor and NFC. Lenovo K800 is another Intel-based handset, available in China in May and we also have the Orange San Diego, yet another model of this kind, this time for UK customers. Still waiting for a US release…
