It may have taken a little longer than other HTC phones, but the HTC Wildfire has finally been rooted…kinda.  While the method devised and executed does not unlock NAND on the handset(meaning you can’t install custom ROMs),it does allow running applications that require root access.  Let the Wi-Fi tethering begin! Nice.

As someone who owns a Wildfire, I’d like to thank XDA user MartinEve, who accomplished the soft root.  Great job dev.  Click on the source link for directions and make sure to root with caution. This can still screw up your phone.
