The official rollout of Android 2.2 is underway starting with today’s news of the Nexus One update.  While some of our readers are clinging to the hopes that their phone will see an update beyond Android 1.6, others are already looking further down the road.  As we’ve seen with some first generation of devices, Froyo might not be in the cards.  Tech site Recombu has received word from HTC that at least three of their 2010 handsets will see Android 2.2 as soon as next quarter (Q3).

“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.” – HTC

Great news to be sure, but not totally unexpected.  Seriously, let’s hope that phones released over the last six months would see support for updates in the same year.
