If a recent rumor coming from GTVsource and Phandroid is to be believed, Google intends to merge its Google TV platform with Honeycomb and bits and pieces of Gingerbread, with the result being the Ice Cream Android software. In case you forgot, Google’s I/O event is in five weeks from now, in May, as usual, so we’ll witness the launch of goodies.

It certainly sounds like Google, merging all of these up and why not adding Chrome and Chrome OS in the mix, since they’re there? No other details are available, but tons of ideas come to mind when you think about this merger, especially when we consider the potential of the Google TV sets.

Imagine Android TVs and Android phones connected in your house. This would be truly the death of the PC and laptop. Does Apple have what it takes to fight that?
