The figures are in and it looks like the third quarter (Q3 ’10) was very kind to both Samsung and Android.  Gartner has just reported that the handset manufacturer accounted for 32.1 percent of all Android smart phones sold in the United States over the previous three month period.  That’s up quite a bit from Q4 ’09 where they had a shade over 9 percent of the market.

In a related note, the Galaxy S series of phones has now eclipsed the three million shipped marker, thanks to no less than six wireless providers offering a model in the flagship line.

“I want to personally thank everyone who selected a Galaxy S smartphone as their mobile handset of choice. Neither of these wonderful accomplishments would have been possible without the loyalty and support of our customers,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile. “The Galaxy S portfolio has played a significant role in Samsung’s success in 2010 and we are extremely excited to show you what products, services and innovations we have in store for the U.S. market in 2011.”

Yeah, we can’t wait either!
