After Sony bought the Ericsson stake in the Sony Ericsson joint company, now Fujitsu goes the same way and buys Toshiba’s Minority stake in the mobile phone joint venture Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications. This company sells mobile phones for KDDI and other local carriers in Japan.
Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications has now become a subsidiary fully owned by Fujitsu. As far as the merger between the mobile business of Fujitsu and Toshiba goes, in October 2010 Fujitsu got an ownership stake of 80.1% in the joint venture and now they also have the 19.9% that Toshiba previously owned. We have no figures for this move and if you want to know about employees, the company has around 300 employees right now and was formed by the merger of the handset divisions at Fujitsu and Toshiba in June 2010.
I’ve always admired Fujitsu phones for being so thin, featuring NFC, TV tuners, clamshell designs, top notch cameras and displays and that Arrows series has given some of the best looking devices on the market.
