eBay Expands Android Presence with Sprint ID and Launch of Classifieds Apps

Yesterday saw eBay making a pair of Android-related announcements.  First up is the release of their new application, eBay Classifieds, which lets users hunt down jobs, sell that old bicycle, or find a pool guy.  In fact, what might seem like a basic one-trick pony, eBay Classifieds offers quite a bit.  Features include auto-locating and directing you to your closest eBay Classifieds area, searching by keyword or price, viewing ads using Google Maps, and social network sharing.  Like their auction app, Classifieds is free and easy to navigate.

The second bit of news is the collaboration with Sprint on their new ID initiative.  As you may have heard in yesterday’s Sprint announcements, Sprint ID lets users download a group of apps, ringtones, and other content based on personal preference.  The eBay ID makes it easy for users to keep up to date with great deals, watch auctions, bid on items, and buy products.  The ID also alerts users if eBay has added any new apps or features to existing titles.  If you end up grabbing a Sanyo Zio, Samsung Transform, or LG Optimus S, then you’ll definitely want to download the eBay ID.
