AndroidGuys Weekly Roundup Nov. 21-26

It’s time for the Android Guys Weekly Roundup, a little weekly segment where I round up all the news reported last week by our amazing team here at AG. So, let’s get to it! We started off the week with a custom ROM for the Xperia X10 (our own Thijs Koot gave a how-to for ADB in case you’re having trouble with that ROM) and a leaked Galaxy S2 firmware update. We also learned that MetroPCS is offering the Optimus M for 9 without a contract, and we got more and more information on the Sony Ericsson Playstation Phone. As the week rolled on, Samsung boasted that they’ve sold 600,000 Galaxy Tabs worldwide in the first month. Other devices that made the news include:

• The Droid 2 Global, which was quietly announced via Facebook
• Motorola Olympus, spied in a few photos, looking very sleek
• 2 Acer devices, a 10-inch tablet and a still nameless 4.8-inch phone
• The Samsung Stealth, possibly a Fascinate successor
• And of course, the rumored Nexus S

Moving on with the week, we learned that the Android Market will see a rating system, which will help determine what apps are suitable (or not suitable) for certain age groups. T-mobile did some expanding as well, adding 8 metro markets to its 4G coverage area. Did your city make the cut? Cox Cable Company joined the Android team, Slice It! and Flightview Elite were both released, and an Android bar opened up in Tokyo. This is all well and good, but I know you’ve still got one thing on your mind: Gingerbread. Well, it’s possible that 2.3 could be released on December 6th, when Andy Rubin speaks at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference.
