Yesterday saw us reporting on an alleged OTA update that was said to be hitting a select few G2 users.  We mentioned that we didn’t have any official word from T-Mobile and that it should be considered unconfirmed.  A day later and now T-Mobile is talking about it.  What’s the deal with the update?  Phonescoop has the details for us.

“Wi-Fi Calling and tethering/Wi-Fi sharing are not currently supported on the T-Mobile G2. T-Mobile knows these features are important to consumers and we’re working to deliver them to G2 users in the future. We have nothing further to announce at this time.”

Working to deliver could be construed as being tested.  Sprinkling updates to a few devices sounds like a great way to start.  Realisitically, this might just be wishful thinking and conjecture.  The truth is G2 owners may need to wait a little longer before they see WiFi calling.
