Baidu has been trying to become the “Google of China” for a while now and it already has a Twitter-like service, while planning to also launch apps and search integrated in their experience. Now they’re aiming at developing the Baidu mobile OS, making the service a real Google rival.

Chief executive Robin Li is claiming that over the coming 3-5 years Baidu will create software that provides a web search box in no more than a second after starting a handset or tablet. This means that the Baidu OS will be very light, so it’ll resemble Chrome OS. Mr. Li also mentioned that it takes the iPhone 45 seconds from its booting to any task performing.

Baidu wants to transform that experience by making the waiting time a mere second.
